Avantgarde Brand Services wins Middle East Event Award
Dubai, 05. June 2011. Avantgarde Brand Services won the award “Best Arts and Cultural Event” at this year’s Middle East Event Awards for their organisation of the 40thanniversary celebrations of Oman National Day. Anindependent internationally-recognised jury from various industries and disciplines judged the nominated projects. This category recognises an outstanding cultural event, that is culturally focused, proved to be well organised, in terms of access, security, facilities etc, as well as attracting significant public interest andsupport from the target audience.
Avantgarde received the award for their 75-minute spectacular show that was hosted by the Oman Ministry of Education at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Held in the theme of “Peace and Sustainable Development”, the celebration of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s 70th birthday and the 40th anniversary of Oman was a show of superlatives.
The event staged saw 12,000 children between the ages of 6 and 15, from 60 different schools, dressed in national and themed costumes. 47,900 theatrical properties were used on stage and matching content developed by Avantgarde Film was screened on a 680 sqm LED screen.
The children re-enacted the history of the sultanate and its development, highlighting various facets of the prosperous reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and his achievements in the fields of education, health, industry, agriculture, arts and modern technology.
“Winning the award for ‘Best Arts and Cultural Event’ in the Middle East is a great reward, not only for Avantgarde but also for the 1,000 ministry and the 300 international staff involved.
