Dubai, UAE, 18 June, 2013: The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has extended the last date for receiving submissions to various categories of the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2013, to enable more applicants to apply for this prestigious award. The closing date will now be 10 July, 2013.

To promote the EEA to a wider audience, the Supreme Council has also organised press conferences in the capital cities of Jordan and Qatar, underlining the message and objectives of the Award to encourage stronger participation from the Middle East and North Africa.

The objective of promoting the Award in countries across the MENA region is to attract the largest possible number of experts, ideas, and experiences in the energy sector, and particularly in sustainable energy,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council and President of the EEA.

The Award serves as a platform to encourage ideas in the field of energy, and provides the opportunity for participants to showcase their experiences and innovations in energy conservation,” added Al Tayer

Following a positive response from individuals and companies during our EEA road shows across the Middle East and North Africa, the Supreme Council has decided to extend the deadline for receiving applications from 30 June to 10 July, this year, to provide more time for interested applicants to prepare the necessary details for applying for the awards,” said HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council.

The delegation from the Supreme Council included Omar Ahmed Al Qurashi, Vice Chairman of the Marketing Committee, Taher Diab, Secretary General of the EEA, and Ali Al Suwaidi, Deputy Manager of Corporate Communications at the Supreme Council.

At the press conference, Omar Al Qurashi presented an overview of the Supreme Council and the EAA with its goals. Taher Diab highlighted the principles, terms and conditions to participate in the award across different categories.

The jury members will evaluate all applications from July-September 2013, and the winners will be announced at a special ceremony to be held on World Energy Day, 22 October, 2013.
